The Makeup I Use Daily

As I've been learning to use makeup, I've fallen into a bit of routine with the things I use on a daily basis. There is a lot of makeup I enjoy, but there are certain staples that I use each day no matter what, when I get ready in the morning. Here they are!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation
I never used foundation for the longest time. I always always scared of getting cakey face, but I discovered this stuff on on the recommendation of tons of makeup gurus, and I absolutely adore it. The only issue is that it took me forever to get a color that matched my skin tone. most of the colors have pink undertones, so even if the shade matched my skin, it was giving me this strange pink look that didn't fit the rest of my body. After a couple of bottles, I finally found one that works for me, and I love it.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
As I mentioned in my last post, concealing is my absolute favorite part of putting on makeup. I suffer from dark circles, so anything that makes that part of me go away is amazing. I tried the Nars concealer out in Sephora and immediately purchased it because it's the best thing I have found to cover my circles. The coverage is great and it looks really natural on my face after I set it with powder. I really love this stuff. I can't believe I spent so much of my life with dark circles when I could have concealed them long ago.

NYX Concealer
I love this stuff in orange. Just something to neutralize the purple color of my under-eye circles before I apply the Nars concealer on top. I really like it.

Maybelline the Rocket Mascara
Even though I was not heavily into makeup even about a year ago, I did regularly wear mascara. I was using the Great Lash variation, and I guess I thought it was okay. I recently picked this one up and it's soooo much better. This stuff enhances my eyelashes without even really looking like I am wearing any mascara. I never thought that there would be a huge difference between mascaras, so I never saw the point in trying something else, but I am so glad that I did now. I also started curling my eyelashes, and holy crap, that makes such a difference too! I love it!

Brush Brush

Makeup brushes elude me. I understand what they are for. But using them? That's something that makes no sense to me. There are so many different kinds, and shapes. They all do different things, and some of them do things that I'm even uncertain of what it means! I have a couple of basic brushes that i have been using on a regular basis, but lately I have been looking to expand, and I'd like to play with more of them and see what kind of results I get. I found this cool website which has reviews on the best makeup brushes.

I'm thinking of just going for it and buying a big set that comes with everything so that I can have some fun experimentation time. I have a couple of gift cards to use, so I can definitely buy some without any fear of wasting money. I never thought I would be the kind of girl who would own a set of makeup brushes, but I guess life just throws things at you sometimes! I say that like this is some sort of big life epiphany I am having. WOW makeup brushes. Ground breaking, and life altering!

I already have a basic face brush, eyeshadow brush, and blusher brush. I would really love to get my hands on a contouring brush, since that is something that I have been wanting to practice. I'd also really like a concealer brush, since I've discovered that concealing is my favorite part of the makeup process. I really enjoy watching all the little imperfections on my face disappear. It's a lot of fun. I keep going around my house asking my family members if they'd like me to conceal them. I think I am starting to get on everyone's nerves.

Makeup Love

I love makeup. This is something that it took me nearly 25 years to realize. I grew up with a mom who doesn't wear makeup. So to me, makeup always felt like something only people on TV wore. I thought that because my mom didn't wear makeup that it wasn't something that "normal" people did. I developed the wrong ideas about makeup. Like, I thought that wearing makeup would make me appear uglier after I removed it. Because I would be so used to the way I looked like with makeup on that I would hate my face once it came off. It's a really silly thing to think, but that's the way that I felt at the time.

And then Youtube happened. Out of no where I started to watch Youtube videos from makeup gurus. I loved the things that they were doing, and I thought it looked so fun to do makeup. And so I started small and then it steadily grew to an obsession as I purchased tons of different products to try out and play with. I just love it! I think makeup is so much fun to use, and I can't image not having it in my life now. I love everything about it and I'm so happy that this is a thing that I get to explore and enjoy now. I wasted so many years not wearing it and I won't waste anymore. So i've started this blog to document my new found love of beauty.
